Lament

Wailing ambulance sirens writhing in the gloomy darkness,
Tortured rubber of screeching wheels birthing monstrous plumes of smoke,
Desolate roadkill strewn callously beside the morbid gutter,
Train tracks spattered with sacred blood, the scars of sorrowful suicides,
Midnight howls of nightmare machinery echoing through the timeless void,
Frail cracked windows battered by the biting winds of time,
Dark clouds of despair converging on the solemn city streets,
Brittle bones and vacant eyes outcast to mourn lost childhood fantasies,
Murky ocean waters of anguish frothing with toxic chemicals,
Crumbling cathedrals and shattered stain glass murals all haggard in the pouring acid rain like a mournful ghost,
Icy hearts mired in ill-omened mists of melancholic grief,
The catatonic stillness of forlorn insane asylums seeping through the cataclysmic matrix of wretched doldrum alleyways,
Tortured phantoms in dilapidated tenement basements weeping siren songs and caressing the cold dusk with their lonesome gaze,
Grotesque screams of helpless desperation immersing the abandoned highways in scorching sorrow,
The holy golden gates of eternity welded shut by the lashing waves of desolation,
Innocent sacred creatures of Eden writhing in cruel ceaseless agony,
The mortal horror of gruesomely decaying morbid limbs,
Nature’s thundering wrath wreaking tempestuous storms of ash-cloud and wild raging forest fires,
And tingling shivers eerily creeping up the mutilated steel spines of soulless machinery –
