Cave Dwellers

Ephemeral jangling whispers creeping strangely through their mystical minds,
I saw luminous beams of pale starlight twinkling down upon the sand-swept cave,
Moonlit trees swaying tenderly in the ageless biting winds,
The wine-dark ocean swelling softly upon the seashore in the blurry horizon,
Sacred primordial images scorched upon the dusty cave walls,
The smoky scent of incandescent candles wafting below,
Dreamy incense infused with wild lavender hovering like a cloud,
Atop ancient zodiac symbols painted primitively on the coarse earth,
Smouldering embers glowing mysteriously in the fading fire pit,
Dried leaves crackling as the breeze delicately sweeps across the compacted dirt floor,
And peculiar shadows cast upon the ceiling,
Where bats flutter and a single solitary owl surveys the mesmerising darkness –
